Davis Construction sinks dewatering casing to lower the level of the groundwater so underground piping and structures can be installed.

This layer of concrete is called a Mud Mat, which allows the steel to be tied and erected without becoming covered with mud and dirt.

Construction of the steel mat which will reinforce the floor and footing of the two new Oxidation Ditches.

Here is a bird’s eye view of the progress of the plant. The center footing for the Easterly Clarifier is in place, steel is being erected for the floor/footing of the Oxidation Ditches, and the Splitter Box between the two Clarifiers is being constructed.

Here we can see the mechanical contractor, Harper Industrial, is installing Ductile Iron piping connecting the Clarifier to the Splitter Box between the two Clarifiers.

Concrete for the floor/footing of the Oxidation Ditches is being poured. This pour lasted approximately 14 hours and used over 600 cubic yards of concrete.

A power screed is being used in this photograph. This machine uses a laser level to smooth the concrete to a particular elevation and can be set to a specific slope to form the surface of the concrete to promote drainage.

The Oxidation Ditch floors have been poured and are protected with insulation blankets. Clarifiers have had the Mud Mats poured and the first elevation pour of the Splitter Box is complete. Forms for the floor/footing of the Clarifiers are now in place and steel is being placed within the forms.

Here we can see the steel being finished in the Easterly Clarifier. PVC waterstop, which can be seen around the perimeter of the structure, provides a seal between two separate concrete pours.

At this point in the project, cold weather has set in. Progress has slowed a bit, but steel is still being tied and erected in the Oxidation Ditches, as shown here, as well as in the Clarifiers (shown on the next photograph).

Davis Construction is placing concrete for the floor/footing of the new Clarifiers.

This picture shows the concrete pour for the new Clarifiers complete and the crew beginning to place insulation blankets over the fresh pour to protect the concrete from becoming damaged by the cold.

In this photograph we can see the overall progress of the project. Clarifiers have floors poured and are protected with insulation blankets. Oxidation Ditches are having steel erected for the walls. The basin drain lines are being installed from the ditches to the Basin Manhole.

Here we can see the forms being erected for the Easternmost exterior wall for the Oxidation Ditches. The floor where the forms rest has been cleaned and is free of ice and debris.

Here we can see the same section of exterior wall as shown in the previous photograph. In this frame we can see the concrete being placed by means of concrete bucket and a chute with an elephant trunk attached. The forms are covered with insulation blankets to protect the fresh concrete from the cold.

The RAS/WAS piping that exits the Wetwell to the East of the Structure and enters the Headworks Building.
